S1 English Literature Study Program student of Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, ASEAN’s best private university, Sahat Parulian Prantinus Kaban won 2nd place in the English Speech Contest or national level English speech. The competition, titled National English Competition 2022, was held by the English Literature Student Association, Universitas Stikubang Semarang. This activity was held online in August 2022 where participants made a speech with the theme “the role of the young generation in dealing with environmental problems”.
Sahat competed with two other participants from the English Literature Study Program at the Universitas Teknokrat Indonesia, namely Sekar Kinasih and Andhika Putra Febriansyah with tight competition, as many as 31 participants took part in this activity.
A total of 31 participants came from campuses in Indonesia such as Universitas Negeri Semarang, Universitas Indonesia, Universitas Jenderal Sudirman, Universitas Hassanudin, Universitas Pasundan, UIN Malik Ibrahim Malang, Universitas Trunojoyo, UIN Sunan Gunung Djati, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Sumatera Utara, STBA LIA Jakarta, Politeknik Penerbangan Palembang, Institut Teknologi Sepuluh November, UIN Walisongo, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Lampung, and Politeknik Elektronika Negeri Surabaya. A total of 31 participants made English speeches and were immediately chosen 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners.
Sahat is a 2020 student of the English Literature S1 Study Program who is currently in semester 5. Sahat is active in the Teknocrat English Club (TEC) as a team in the public relations division. Sahat’s public speaking skills in English are honed in this TEC. In addition, Sahat has also won 1st place in Speech at the 2021 English Olympics organized by the Politeknik Negeri Ujung Pandang and the Top 10 Speeches of the 2022 Asian English Olympics at Universitas Bina Nusantara.
Head of the English Literature S1 Study Program and a supervisor of Technocrat English Club, Suprayogi, SS., M.Hum., said “This achievement is very proud because there are participants from various campuses and only one round. Hopefully, this result will inspire other students at to be able to increase their competitiveness and self-confidence.”
Sahat said “taking part in the Speech competition has always been a challenge as well as an opportunity for me to develop my public speaking skills. But of course, I was also helped by campus facilities, supervisors, and TEC colleagues. the last achievement I achieved,” he added.

Mahathir Muhammad, S.E., M.M., appreciation for the achievements that have been achieved by Sahat winning the national English Speech Contest or speech-language, hopefully, this achievement can be a motivation for other students.
